How It Works
Our tool makes calculating your unemployment benefits simple. Here's exactly what happens when you use it:
Step 1: Enter Your Details
- Your last monthly salary (before deductions). We automatically apply the UIF salary cap of R17,712 if you earn more
- How many months you were employed. Every 4 days worked = 1 credit day (we calculate this for you)
Step 2: Instant Calculation
We use the official UIF formulas to determine:
- Daily Income = (Monthly salary × 12) ÷ 365
- Income Replacement Rate (IRR) = 38-60% (lower incomes get higher %)
- Daily Benefit Amount = Daily Income × IRR
- Total Benefit = Daily Amount × Your Credit Days
Step 3: Understand Your Results
You'll see:
- Estimated daily payout (what you'd get per day from UIF)
- Total potential benefit (based on your credit days)
- How long payments could last (max 365 days)
